Ocean Pointe East & West
Ocean Pointe is the fifth overall phase of development
under the Lafayette Gardens HOPE VI Revitalization Plan. It is the second
off-site phase. Consisting of two 4-story masonry, elevator senior buildings,
Ocean Pointe is located on the southeast and northwest corners of
Ocean Avenue
and
Dwight Street
.
Designed by KNTM Architects, LLC, there are a total of 59
rental units including 53 one-bedroom units and 6 two-bedroom units. Forty
(40) of the units operate under both public housing and tax credit rules and are
rented to low-income (i.e. at or below 50% of median income) seniors (i.e. at least
62 years old).
The ground floor of each building contains significant community
space to accommodate on-site assisted living services (e.g. health screenings, exercise
classes, computer learning, etc.) as well as recreational activities.
